Default Suggestion: HIGHEST graphical quality setting.

As it is, only your own avatar has full graphics quality, everyone else gets downsampled textures

As I am a great fan of good graphics, I'd love to have a HIGHEST graphics setting, in which everyone was shown with high-res textures.

That would be cool, or have a setting for varying degrees of downsampling. Some of the coolness of the 15k armor sets most of all seems to disappear with the low-res textures...

It's only in town though that the quality gets downsampled, but I wouldn't mind having an option like this. Its not everyday that you get to group with someone with Fissure armor, but its almost guaranteed to find one person with Fissure at ToA, Granite Citadel or Marhans Grotto.

That is a really good suggestion. Some of us with a decent graphics card want to put it to good use!

Yes, I agree. I've seen other people wearing the armor I have, and I keep thinking to myself "Why does that look so crappy, compared to mine?", and I guess this answers my question. Lots of us put a lot of money into highend machines, and we don't wanna let it go to waste!

But, I wouldn't be able to run at high settings, anymore. My pride would be ruined. Awful idea.

Sure you could run in HIGH settings. Just not our uber-leet HIGHEST setting!

I believe the downsampling happens on other people only when the number of people in town gets high. Which made the Grotto pretty funny when new armors came out...

Agree with the OP~
My system will handle everything GW can throw at it and then some. Let us have some enhanced control over the settings; the "automagical" ones appear to use the lowest common denominator.

Not all of us are still running 800 Mhz pentiums with 16MB RAM.

I've never noticed this problem, but then I don't hang around Lions Arch all of the time. I've seen mulitple characters with the updated 15k armor in Marhan's and the graphics have not been "downsampled", try going to a little less crowded location.

Agree with the OP. Would be a nice option. Would be even better if you could control mip-map distances directly. Got a budget system but don't wanna miss out on high res armors? Set it to use high-res only for people standing within two feet of the camera.

So true. It's very frustrating to run into someone with a nice set of armor in town and not be able to drool over the guy's armor in the highest possible resolution.
